Helping you
tell stories
to connect
with others
Connecting with your audience is difficult enough. If you don’t have the confidence, time or skills to produce and edit stories that help you build relationships, connecting can feel like drudgery. That’s where I can help.
Maybe the most important thing I’ve learned over the years is that everything we do is about relationships. That’s why I love to tell great stories that help organizations and businesses like yours connect with people so you and your audience can make an impact together. I’ve been doing that for close to three decades, leading the communications efforts of college athletics departments at the NCAA Division I, NCAA Division III, NAIA and junior college levels, as well as for various non-profit, ministry and business organizations.
I can help you with your writing and editing needs, including:
feature story/article writing
copywriting (website pages, email messages, social media posts, etc.)
news/press release writing
major copy editing
line editing
If you need to have someone help you plan and organize your content strategy and focus your church’s or non-profit organization’s communications efforts, let me know.
Whether you want to tell great stories to help build and strengthen relationships or figure out your overall communications strategy, I’d be honored to be your teammate on your journey.

Following a career as a sports information and promotions director in college athletics, I moved into full-time Christian ministry, serving with:
Fellowship of Christian Athletes (national director of communications)Mobberly Baptist Church (director of communications)
Converge (director of communications)
In these positions, I’ve worked with two large, international organizations (FCA and Converge) and on the ground at a multisite church. I’ve led the storytelling and media/public relations efforts, and worked alongside a group of talented professionals and volunteers at each stop. -
For approximately 15 years, I worked in college athletics as a sports information director. In that role, I led the communications efforts for several college athletics departments at various competitive levels, including:
University of Texas at Arlington (NCAA Division I)
Berry College (NAIA and NCAA Division III)
Young Harris College (Junior College and NCAA Division II)
In addition, I have served in assistant roles at:
Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo (NCAA Division I)
University of Texas at Arlington (NCAA Division I)
Illinois State University (NCAA Division I as an undergraduate assistant)
In 2000, I served as the press officer for the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team, which recorded the program’s best-ever record (27-3-1) and featured several future Major League Baseball players, including future National League Most Valuable Player Ryan Howard, future American League Rookie of the Year Bobby Crosby, and future stars such as Mark Teixeira and Mark Prior.
While serving as a sports information and promotions director I earned national writing awards from the College Sports Information Directors of America and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. -
Over the years, I’ve written articles for and about small businesses that helped raise awareness and bring those businesses new customers. These articles include feature articles, short newsletter pieces and news releases.
Having worked full-time for one regional chamber of commerce and part-time for another (not to mention growing up around the industry as the son of a long-time chamber of commerce CEO), not only do I understand the impact and needs of small businesses, but they are near and dear to my heart.
